Yarrow herb extract
Has a relaxing and antispasmodic effect on mild cramps during menstruation
Tried and tested for thousands of years: Yarrow
The ancient Greeks already knew yarrow as a medicinal plant: According to legend, Achilles healed his injuries with this herb. Hence, the first part of the name, Achillea. The second part, millefolium, originates from Latin and means “thousand leaves”. However, the “soldier’s weed ” was already very quickly used in gynaecology, but also has a stimulating effect on the appetite and helps with gastrointestinal tract problems.
Composition
1 film-coated tablet contains: Active substance: 250 mg dry extract from yarrow herb (Achillea millefolium L., herba) Drug-extract ratio 5-10: 1, extraction medium: water. Excipients: maltodextrin, cellulose, croscarmellose-sodium, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, stearic acid, macrogol 6000, talc, titanium dioxide E171, iron oxide red E172

All about menstruation
Menstruation, also called the period, cycle, or that time of the month, is a natural biological process in the female body: Every month, an egg cell matures in one of the ovaries. After ovulation, it wanders in the direction of the uterus. If it is fertilised with a sperm, it nests itself into the mucous membrane lining of the uterus which has built up since the last menstrual period to provide protection to the egg cell. If fertilisation does not occur, the egg is expelled from the vagina together with the mucous membrane: This results in bleeding from the vagina. This entire process is also called the menstrual cycle. Many hormones, the sexual organs and the nervous system are involved in this very complex process in the female body. That is why menstruation is not only noticeable through bleeding, but also through many other factors.
Tips to help with menstrual complaints
- cravings for chocolate? Magnesium tablets are the better alternative. With cravings, the body is signalling that it lacks this mineral – it has a cramp-relieving effect.
- Caffeine can intensify the pain. Therefore, it is best to avoid coffee, cola and black or green tea.
- Instead, drink a lot of tea or water so that you do not become dehydrated.
- Stress promotes cramping; therefore try to relax when possible.
- Keep moving! Light sports activities are good for you and also have a cramping-relieving effect. So how about a walk or a yoga session?
- If warmth helps you (this varies from woman to woman), then make yourself cosy and warm and drink something warm. A hot bath or cherry pit pillow on the stomach can also have a cramp-relieving effect.
- Make sure that you get enough sleep. Women are more sensitive to pain and more irritated when they are tired.
- If it is not uncomfortable for you: Try sex. The endorphins released during sex also relax the muscles in the lower abdomen.
- Take Hänseler Achillea with beneficial yarrow before and during menstruation. The preparation relieves mild cramps during menstruation.
- For severe menstrual pain that affects your life, pain or hormone preparations can also help. Consult your gynaecologist in this case.
What affects menstruation?
Every girl and every woman knows it: No cycle is one hundred percent regular; no cycle is the same length; the bleeding is sometimes weaker, sometimes stronger. In addition to the hormone level at the respective timepoint of menstruation, there are still other factors that can affect this natural process:
- Both severely malnourished as well as severely overweight women more often have an irregular menstrual cycle.
- Directly after the birth of a child, the cycle may be irregular, even over a longer period of time.
- Women who are under great stress and overexertion are more likely to have irregular periods or even no periods at all. This also applies to high-performance athletes who subject their bodies to great physical exertion
- Physical and mental balance has a positive effect on menstruation, its regularity and also the pain during the period.
- Women who are overweight often bleed more than those who are of normal weight. This is also true for women who are about to start menopause.
- Diseases can affect the regularity or the amount of blood during menstruation:
-
- Myomas in the uterus (benign growths)
- Endometriosis (uterus-like tissue on the ovaries, intestine or peritoneum)
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome (ovarian cysts)
- Pelvic diseases, that originate from an infection

Did you know that...
... approx. 30 to 150 millilitre blood is expelled per cycle?
That’s about a small coffee cup full.
... every woman goes through an average of 500 menstrual cycles?
When a woman menstruates five days long for approx. 40 years, that amounts to menstruation of approximately seven years.
... women who take the pill do not have menstrual bleeding, ....
… but something called break-through bleeding? This is because during the seven-day pill pause, the oestrogen level is lowered and withdrawal bleeding therefore results.
... less uterine lining is built up by taking the pill?
Therefore, the bleeding is less severe and lasts a shorter time.
... menstruation is subdivided into four phases?
Into the menstrual phase, follicular phase, ovulation phase and luteal phase.
... some women also bleed during pregnancy?
That occurs particularly in women who take the pill. In this case, a woman should consult her gynaecologist.
... menstrual blood contains 385 proteins that are unique?
These are neither present in the vaginal fluid, nor in normal blood.
... many women feel ovulation?
Either it hurts a little or light bleeding occurs.
... during ovulation, the body temperature usually rises by 0.5 degrees?
This observation is used for natural contraception with the temperature method because it is at this time that the woman is most fertile.
